Abstract

To date, about 200 million cases have been registered worldwide, but the actual number of cases is about 2 times higher. At the same time, the incidence increases annually in all countries by 5-7%, and doubles every 12-15 years. The prevalence of diabetes in Western countries is 2-5%, and in developing countries it reaches 10-15%. The number of patients doubles every 15 years.
